Health Coaching With Me (Mary), A life Changing experience.
Let’s start with what a Health Coach is.
A health coach serves as a mentor and guide and works with individuals to help them reach their health and wellness goals. A health coach can provide support, encouragement, motivation, inspiration, accountability, and practical tools to help an individual around the area of weight-loss, nutrition, fitness, exercise, improved sleep, improved mood, improved energy or some specific area, such as women’s health, fertility, cancer, and more. With the use of a health coach individuals are more likely to move towards and ultimately reach their health and wellness goals.
What sets me apart from the rest?
First of all, I am a Certified Health Coach; not all health coaches or “nutritional counselors” are. In fact, some states don’t even require an individual to have ANY special training let alone require certification. Here’s where you can rest assured you are being coached, supported and guided by someone who has specific training and has met all the requirements to receive legal and professional Certification. I was also given a Leadership in Health Coaching Award in 2019 for outstanding achievement and performance as a health coach, an award only given to 10 students out of thousands from around the world!
My training includes specializations in both the world of women’s fitness and nutrition and in holistic health and wellness, meaning I have extensive training in traditional, sports, and holistic fitness, nutrition, and health and wellness which all serves to better support and help you reach your goals.
My area of expertise.
My area of expertise is particularly around menopausal women’s health, wellness, and fitness. And, I hold specializations in women’s hormonal health & balance, emotional eating, and digestive health. All key players when it comes to helping you successfully reach your goals and it goes far and above calorie counting and exercising alone!
Examples:
For example, let’s say you’re an “emotional eater,” and you have had a hard day at work, maybe a conflict with your boss or a fellow co-worker; you come home that evening and you’re feeling hurt, discouraged, and stressed out to the max and without even thinking about how the day impacted your mood, you reach for your favorite comfort foods just to soothe and calm your nerves. Then later, you question why…why did I eat that or eat so much of that…when I know I should have eaten better, healthier, or not as much. Until you understand how stress and emotions can affect your choices around food, the whole “diet” and “exercise” mentality will fail you and you will constantly struggle to reach your goals and likely experience a strong sense of guilt, blame, and shame. This is where I come in! And we talk about and learn how your mind, mood, and attitude can affect your choice around food, diet, exercise and lifestyle. And, once you have a better understanding of WHY you do what you do, not just do the things you feel you should do and yet not do, then you can recognize your pitfalls, how to avoid them, and how to set yourself up for success in every choice.
Another example would be with hormonal health and balance. Let’s say your thyroid isn’t functioning the way it should. You’ve tried dieting and exercising your heart out and CANNOT seem to lose any weight…so you eat less and exercise more. From a “diet and exercise” perspective you should lose weight, right? Eat Less---Exercise more. Well, no, not necessarily. If your hormone are off balance, your body cannot process and metabolize food and calories properly and all the extra dieting and exercising could actually be causing you to gain weight. How about the unique challenges that menopause throws us ladies?! Here’s where I come in! As a specialist in women’s hormonal health and balance, I can help you to learn how to find a diet and lifestyle that nourishes and supports your thyroid and hormonal health.
Let’s do one more example 😊 Let’s say you have gut dysbiosis, meaning the health of your gut is compromised; maybe you have irritable bowel syndrome, leaky gut, Crohn’s disease, candidiasis (yeast overgrowth), or suffer from chronic diarrhea or constipation. If your gut health is off balance or compromised you won’t be able to properly digest, absorb, or metabolize the foods you’re eating. And further, an imbalance in your gut can regulate your mood and your food cravings! And did you know that your hormones are produced in your gut and that 70-80% of your immune system is housed in your gut!?
The bottom line is that there is so much more to weight-loss and improving your health and wellness than strictly diet and exercise alone and there is so much more to how your body processes and utilizes that food and exercise.
What do you get when you coach with me?
First and foremost, you have a Certified Health Coach that is trained in both the sports and fitness world and the holistic world. My training in both areas helps me to give you the best educated and most balanced information, support, and approach to achieving not only your weight-loss goals, but also will help you to develop a lifestyle that supports your overall health and wellness, mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
My areas of Specializations in Women’s Fitness & Nutrition, Emotional Eating, Hormonal Health and Balance, and Digestive Health have allowed me to dig even deeper into finding the root causes behind some of our greatest areas of struggle, which will help you get better results, faster, and be better able to maintain a lifestyle of healthy weight management and overall health and wellness.
I have my own weight loss story, having successfully lost over 40 lbs and having kept it over for 20 years and running, I can personally relate to the struggle, the ups and downs of dieting, the frustration and disappointment of not being able to get and keep the results you want, and just wanting to GIVE UP because you feel it’s impossible for you to reach the goals you want to reach. I have struggled with “brain fog,” fatigue, depression, anxiety, poor digestion, inflammation, joint pain, and have been able to either eliminate or improve every one of them, and age 48 I have more energy, more strength, less pain, and much better health that I did in my 20’s!
You will learn how to set simple, attainable goals and how to take small steps toward reaching them. You will learn the 5 fabulous things you can do each day to improve your weight, mood, energy, sleep, reduce stress, and improve your overall health and wellness and quality of life. I will help you learn how to set yourself up for success each and every day. I will help you learn how to love, honor, and respect yourself and how to daily reflect self-love, self-acceptance, and authentic self-nourishment in the foods you eat, the exercise you do, and the life you live.
You will have a coach and a friend that will be there for you and with you every step of the way. You will receive a daily word of encouragement, a quick note, quote, picture, an article, or sometimes something even deeper that I believe will help to motivate, support, and encourage you and help you sort through all the confusion, madness, and misinformation that is out there around weight-loss and a healthy LIFESTYLE.
